Stronger America Through Seafood brings a diverse board of directors from various backgrounds. With corporate support from Cargill, Pacific Seafood, Taylor Shellfish, Pontos Aqua Advisory, Sysco, Pentair, High Liner foods, Red Lobster, Harvest Select, Woods Hole Group, and Fortune International, LLC, Harvest Select, Taylor Shellfish, InnovaSea, Beaver Street Fisheries/Sea Best, we have the momentum and voice to influence U.S. policymakers to enact legislation establishing a workable regulatory framework for all U.S. Aquaculture production.
For over fifteen years, Margaret Henderson has been influencing policymakers in Washington, D.C. and around the country, first as a Congressional staff member and now as a political consultant focusing on issues impacting our oceans, marine fisheries and the commercial fishing community across the country.
Since 2005, Margaret has been a leading federal advocate on behalf of the Gulf Coast and national seafood communities, serving as Vice President, Government Relations for the National Fisheries Institute (2005 – 2009) and as Executive Director of the Gulf Seafood Institute (2013-2017), a trade association representing the entire Gulf of Mexico seafood supply chain, including fishermen, processors, distributors, restaurants and their customers.
Margaret provides public affairs consulting for a diverse suite of clients, including Cargill, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Gulf Oyster Industry Council, the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Industries Association, the Friends of the Fishermen Foundation, the Argos Alliance and CLS America, Inc., a global leader in satellite data communications. In 2018, Margaret assumed the role of Campaign Manager for Stronger America Through Seafood, Inc., an issue campaign promoting federal policies favorable to increased domestic production of all seafood. Sarah Brenholt brings a diverse portfolio of experience to the Stronger America Through Seafood Campaign. She began her career as an office manager for a political campaign, after the campaign ended Sarah moved to the private sector and worked her way up the corporate ladder at Graebel Companies, Inc. in their management trainee program. A career change to higher education at the University of Denver allowed her to hone her skills in regulation compliance, research ethics and administrative work. All of which have proven to be vital assets to the coalition. Sarah’s unique ability to work in fast paced, time-critical environments allow her natural problem-solving abilities to thrive. Her communication skills and political savvy are proven to be invaluable to getting the job the done. Whether it is taking a deep dive into a policy issue, research and writing a one-pager, or scheduling and leading meetings on Capitol Hill, Sarah approaches every opportunity with the same attention to detail and enthusiasm.
